Why is it important to remove moss from roofs?
Moss on roofs is very unsightly, but it can also affect drainage of rainwater away from a roof. Moss impedes the flow of water whilst on route to the gutter, and can also fall into guttering systems, which inhibits the flow of water away from the property. Water will always find a way past any obstacle invariably causing gutters to overflow, and can in turn cause expensive damp repairs on homes.
We do not normally pressure wash the roof for the simple fact that it can damage the tiles.
Instead we will scrape the roof manually and then add a biocide solution to the roof to kill moss and prevent any further growth.
This treatment lasts approximately 3-5 years until it needs spraying with the solution again.
There is no easier way to improve and maintain the appearance of your property than to keep the roof clean and free of unsightly moss, mold and algae.
The BioWash Process
To give you an idea of what our BioWash method consists of, first we will manually scrap clean most of the moss on the entire roof.
After the scraping process a Microbiological Biocide Treatment is applied, this kills any moss left over and then prevents re-growth of moss, lichen, etc for up to 3/5 years.
